My First Post on Neocities!
Published on July 11, 2025
Hi, I’m Bryan. I go by Resplendent606 on most social websites and my pronouns are he/him/his. I am a cis-gendered omnisexual man. I created this website on neocities.org because I needed a creative outlet. I have Lupus and it makes it very hard for me to work. Right now I am experiencing a flare caused by being out in the sun for too long. I went on a trip to Tennessee (I live in Kentucky) on a sunny day with my family with the A/C blasting but the sunshine through the windows in the car triggered the flare. It causes extreme fatigue, joint pain, and a malar rash, among other symptoms. I told you all of that to say I have had some time on my hands. Though I am unable to work at the moment, I am able to sit in a chair and type on the keyboard.
On this webpage, you’ll see posts mostly technology related, but you may see things about my family, politics (though, I try not to think too much about politics), social justice, music, and other stuff. I enjoy all kinds of music genres, from the blues to metal. I enjoy playing videogames, though I don’t play as much as I once did. I am very passionate about FOSS (free and open-source software) and consumer rights. I am sure a blog post about FOSS is coming at some point.
I really like the old internet. I am an older millenial (1982) and my first introduction to the internet was through WebTV around 1997. I bought a book about HTML because I wanted to make my own custom WebTV page. I connected an IBM Model M keyboard to the WebTV box and tought myself how to make a website. With a few reminders and learning a some new things, that is how I made this website.

I have been in a slow process of deGoogling myself, which has extended to trying to remove all of big-tech from my life. I plan to write about that as well. That led me to switching to GNU/Linux (I use Arch and Debian, btw), along with Microsoft dropping support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. The more I read about how big-tech uses the data they gather on you, the more I want to get away from them.

That was a lot of rambling but I wanted to give you an idea of what you can expect from this blog. I have lots of thoughts and opinions on things. I am happy to be on Neocities! Feel free to follow or contact me through my socials. Thanks for reading!
